FEA was founded in 1985 to provide professional development for members of the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association (NJPSA). Since then, the Foundation has grown into one of the premier organizations for educational professional development for current and aspiring school leaders. FEA has extensive experience in providing rigorous, large scale professional development, and currently operates the highly successful NJ EXCEL, NJ L2L, NJ ELITE (in partnership with NJASA), and the Rutgers/FEA Education Law and Policy Institute (in partnership with Rutgers). NJPSA attorneys, who have extensive experience in representing school leaders on legal matters, serve as instructors in FEA’s various school law programs.
The Institute on Education Law and Policy at Rutgers-Newark is New Jersey’s premier center for interdisciplinary research and innovative thinking on education policy. Its founder, Professor Paul Tractenberg, is recognized nationally as a leader on a wide array of school law and policy issues. Its mission includes promoting greater understanding of complex issues in education law and policy for educators. Since 2005, IELP has partnered with FEA to provide the Rutgers/FEA Education Law and Policy Institute. IELP brings to bear the extensive resources and capacity of Rutgers, The State
University of New Jersey, including access to professors and students in the School of Law and the School of Public Affairs and Administration. It has completed reports for the NJDOE on NJQSAC, school choice, and the state-operated school districts.
The Monmouth/Ocean Educational Services Commission is the leader in providing online professional development for education professionals through its groundbreaking OTIS (Online Training In-service Seminar) program. OTIS provides online training in areas such as child abuse and neglect, illegal harassment and bullying, cyber bullying, gangs, suicide prevention and awareness, and college scholarships. To date, thousands of educators from more than 100 school districts have completed OTIS training. No other entity in New Jersey can match MOESC’s extensive experience in providing high quality, online professional development for educators.
